What this construction is good at, and where it is the wrong choice

A 55cm by 35cm by 22cm polyester laptop backpack is a workhorse shape. The material choice keeps cost per unit predictable, which matters when you are running a wholesale program across several colorways. Polyester holds its dimensions well, prints cleanly, and resists the kind of daily abrasion that kills cheaper bags. The size gives you room for a laptop, a change of clothes, and the odd bulky item without moving into suitcase territory.

But this is not a compact commuter bag. At 1kg empty, it starts to feel heavy once you add a laptop, charger, water bottle, and a day of paperwork. The published spec says the bag is waterproof, yet no coating system or lamination method is named in that block. So treat water resistance as a starting point for your own test plan, not a finished claim. And because the dimensions are fixed in the spec, the bag will not suit buyers who want a slim profile for crowded trains or under-seat storage.

Published spec valueWhat it means in useWhat a buyer should watch for
PolyesterA stable, printable shell fabric that holds shape and handles repeated loading well.Confirm the coating type and weight before you rely on the waterproof claim for outdoor use.
With USBAn external charging port lets a user connect a power bank inside the bag to a device outside.Check the cable routing, port cap, and whether the port is reinforced against daily plugging and unplugging.
WaterproofThe bag is intended to shed water, but the spec does not state the coating or lamination system.Ask for the test method and acceptance limit, then write both into the approved sample.
55cm*35cm*22cmA large main cavity with enough depth for bulky items, but a tall and wide silhouette.Laptop fit must be confirmed against the sleeve opening, which is not stated in the published spec.
1kgA moderate empty weight that adds up once the bag is loaded for travel.Consider how the empty weight affects your freight cost and the end user's comfort.
Customized MadeThe bag is made to order rather than pulled from ready stock.Clarify which elements are customized and which are fixed before you approve sampling.

How buyers customize this SPU, and what each change does to tooling, cost or lead time

Routine changes are the ones that do not touch the base pattern. A new logo, a different colorway, a change to the internal pocket layout, or a switch between the six packaging options in the allowed facts all fall into this group. For logo work, the method matters. A woven label is a different cost and lead time from a heat-pressed PVC patch or a laser mark. The published spec says the logo is customizable, but it does not name a method, so you will need to specify that before sampling.

Pantone matching is available with a tolerance of ΔE≤2.0. That is tight enough for brand programs where the bag color has to sit next to other branded items. A single Pantone color carries a lower minimum than a multi-color print, but those numbers are fixed in the approved specification, not in this page.

Changes that need new tooling or a longer runway include anything that alters the panel dimensions, the strap anchor points, the USB port position, or the waterproof construction. If you want a different size, a padded laptop sleeve with a stated opening dimension, or a different shell fabric, the factory has to rework the pattern and possibly cut new dies. That adds lead time before sampling even starts. The published spec lists dimensions as customized made, which means the size is negotiable, but the base pattern still exists. The more you move away from it, the longer the runway.

What to confirm before you approve sampling on this product

The points that cause the most rework are the ones the spec list cannot answer. First, confirm the laptop sleeve opening. The published spec gives overall dimensions, but it does not state the sleeve width, height, or padding. Laptop fit must be confirmed against the sleeve opening, not the bag exterior. A buyer who assumes the 55cm height translates into a certain laptop size will be disappointed when the sleeve is smaller than expected.

Second, pin down the USB port. Does the customer want a male-to-female pass-through cable, a built-in cable, or just a port hole? Where does the cable exit the bag? Is the port sealed against water? These details change the bill of materials and the sewing sequence, so they must be written into the approved sample.

Third, define the waterproof test. The published spec says waterproof, but that word means different things to different buyers. A light shower is not the same as a 30-minute downpour. Ask for the test method, the conditioning state, and the acceptance limit. Write all three into the sample approval sheet.

Finally, agree on the color standard before sampling. Since the color is customized made, you need a physical Pantone reference or a lab dip approval. Otherwise the sample comes back in a shade that looks right on screen and wrong in hand. For more on how size and capacity affect a backpack program, see our backpack size and capacity guide.
